For those the world has called untouchable,
give the gift of healing.
A fresh beginning for every person touched by leprosy in rural India — overlooked by the world, never forgotten by God.
The need is vast. The work is urgent.
We show up where others walk away.
Rev. K.S. Joseph Memorial Hospital
Leprosy asks for two things at once, and they don't happen in the same building. The daily presence — a bed, meals, wound dressings, company, a community that says you belong here — happens at our Leprosy Care Centre. The clinical treatment happens at Rev. K.S. Joseph Memorial Hospital: diagnosis, multidrug therapy, and care for the ulcers, nerve damage, and complications leprosy leaves behind when it has gone untreated for years.
Named in memory of Rev. K.S. Joseph, the hospital serves rural families across the region — people for whom the nearest alternative is hours away and priced far beyond a day labourer's wage. Patients come from our Care Centre and from surrounding villages, are examined and treated by the hospital's medical staff, and go home with medicines and a follow-up appointment. The patient pays nothing. Donors cover the cost in advance so that no one is asked for money at the door.
Diagnosis and treatment
Leprosy is confirmed and treated with multidrug therapy by the hospital's licensed medical staff — the cure that stops the disease in its tracks.
Wounds and complications
Ulcers, infections, and nerve damage from years of untreated disease are managed clinically, preventing further permanent disability.
Open to the overlooked
Patients arrive from remote villages across Andhra Pradesh — many turned away elsewhere, or too afraid of the stigma to seek help at all.
We fund the treatment. We don't own the hospital.
Rev. K.S. Joseph Memorial Hospital is a separate, independently owned and operated institution in India. Hand in Hand International does not own, manage, or control the hospital, holds no ownership interest in it, and claims no ownership of the medical treatment delivered there. The hospital's leadership and licensed medical staff are fully responsible for all clinical decisions and patient care. It is a distinct entity from our Leprosy Care Centre.
Our role is narrow and specific: we identify patients who cannot pay, and we sponsor the cost of their treatment so the hospital's team can care for them free of charge. Each gift funds that sponsored care — nothing more. Beyond the cost of the treatment we sponsor, Hand in Hand carries no ongoing financial obligation to the hospital, and the hospital carries none to us.
We say this plainly because donors deserve to know exactly where their money goes and who does the work. Your gift buys medicine and wound care for someone who could not afford it. The hospital provides the skill and the facility. Both are necessary.
Leprosy Care in India: Restoring Hope, Healing, and Dignity in Christ
Leprosy is more than a disease — it brings pain, isolation, and stigma. Many affected individuals face not only physical suffering but also social rejection, leaving them trapped in despair. In God's love, no one is forgotten, and every life is precious.
Our Leprosy Care initiative is a Christian ministry providing comprehensive care to 300+ patients — free medical treatment through Rev. K.S. Joseph Memorial Hospital, alongside rehabilitation, counseling, and social reintegration support at our Care Centre. Through the compassion of donors and the guidance of Christ's teaching to "love your neighbor as yourself," we ensure that every person affected by leprosy experiences healing, hope, and dignity.
Challenges Faced Without Proper Care
- Untreated leprosy can lead to permanent disability and social exclusion.
- Stigma causes isolation and deep emotional suffering.
- Families face financial and emotional hardship while trying to provide care.
- Lack of awareness delays diagnosis and treatment, worsening outcomes.

"Today, I can say that my life has changed. My body is healing, my spirit is renewed, and my heart is filled with hope."
Before coming to our Leprosy Care Centre, Nageswar Rao's days were filled with pain and silence. Weakened by leprosy and pushed to the edges of society, he felt he had no place in this world — a man searching desperately for rest, comfort, and dignity.
What he found at our Leprosy Care Centre was far beyond medicine. He found love, care, and direction for his life. By God's grace, and through the generosity of sponsors who funded his treatment at Rev. K.S. Joseph Memorial Hospital, he began receiving care for his wounds — day by day, act of kindness by act of kindness.
"In this community, I discovered I was no longer alone. Slowly, the heavy burden of loneliness began to lift. I started to smile again. I started to believe again."
Today Nageswar thanks God for His grace, for this place, and for the generous hearts who made it possible for him to have a new beginning.
Your donation makes stories like Nageswar's possible. Every gift provides free treatment, wound care, counseling, and — most importantly — the dignity every human being deserves.
Support Leprosy Care. Do what Jesus did — touch the untouchable.
Providing leprosy care is not just medical — it is an act of Christian love, restoring health, dignity, and faith. Patients experience healing in body and spirit, while donors become instruments of God's grace.
What Your Gift Makes Possible
Every donation goes directly into the hands of someone who has nothing. It pays for the bandages wrapped around wounded feet, the medicines from Rev. K.S. Joseph Memorial Hospital that stop a disease in its tracks, and the meals placed on the table every morning and evening. It keeps a bed warm, a roof overhead, and a home open to those the world has turned away. And beyond the medicine and the meals, it funds something harder to measure — the prayers shared around a patient, the fellowship of a community that says you belong here, and the quiet dignity of being known, loved, and cared for by name.
Hand in Hand International, headquartered in the Dallas–Fort Worth area, funds free leprosy care across Andhra Pradesh, India. Medical treatment is delivered at Rev. K.S. Joseph Memorial Hospital, an independent institution that Hand in Hand does not own or operate.
