For those the world has left in darkness,
give the gift of sight.
A new beginning for every person robbed of sight in rural India — unseen by the world, never forgotten by God.
The need is vast. The work is urgent.
We show up where others walk away.
Eye Surgeries: Restoring Sight, Hope, and Dignity in Christ
Losing your sight is more than losing vision — it means losing independence, livelihood, and the ability to care for your family. In rural India, thousands of people go blind each year from cataracts and other treatable conditions simply because they cannot afford surgery or reach a hospital. God did not design this suffering, and in His love, no one is forgotten.
Our Eye Surgery initiative is a Christian ministry that partners with local doctors and hospitals to bring free, life-changing surgeries to those who could never afford them. Through the generosity of donors and the compassion of Christ — who opened the eyes of the blind — we ensure that no one remains in preventable darkness because of poverty.
Challenges Faced Without Access to Eye Care
- Untreated cataracts cause complete, irreversible blindness — yet surgery takes less than 30 minutes.
- Blind individuals in rural India often lose their jobs, income, and ability to care for their families.
- The cost of surgery, travel, and accommodation is insurmountable for those living in poverty.
- Stigma and lack of awareness mean many suffer silently, never knowing surgery is even possible.

"What began with fear has ended in freedom. I have received not just my sight, but a new beginning."
Verramma still remembers how dark those days were. Her eyesight was fading, and she could no longer see clearly. Even inside her own home, she had to depend on others to guide her. Life felt uncertain and hopeless.
In that time of struggle, she and her family went to their Pastor and explained their situation. He showed compassion and spoke with sponsors who came forward to help. By God's grace, and through the generous support of donors, she was able to come for surgery.
"When I arrived, my steps were unsure, but I was welcomed with love and care. Soon the day came, and the surgery was done."
The next morning, when the bandage was removed, light entered her eyes again. She could see — and her heart filled with tears of gratitude. Not from pain, but from joy.
Today, Verramma thanks God for His grace, for her Pastor's compassion, and for the generous sponsors who made her healing possible.
Your donation makes stories like Verramma's possible. Every gift covers the surgery, the travel, the care — and, most importantly, the moment the bandage comes off and the world comes back into view.
Sponsor an Eye Surgery. Do what Jesus did — open the eyes of the blind.
Giving sight to someone who has lost it is one of the most profound acts of love imaginable. Your gift does not just restore vision — it restores a life, a livelihood, and the ability to look into the eyes of those you love.
What Your Gift Makes Possible
Every donation goes toward getting someone to surgery who could never get there alone. It pays for the procedure itself — often costing less than $100 — and the transport from a remote village to a hospital many hours away. It covers the meals, the overnight stay, and the post-operative medicines. It funds the follow-up visit to make sure the healing is complete. And beyond the logistics, it pays for something far harder to quantify: the first morning a mother can see her children's faces again, the day a man discovers he can go back to work, and the quiet moment when someone realizes that God had not forgotten them after all.
Hand in Hand International, headquartered in the Dallas–Fort Worth area, funds free eye surgeries across Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, India.
Many employers match their employees' donations. Give first — then we'll show you how to double your gift through your company.
Be the reason someone sees again.
Our Eye Surgery ministry arranges free cataract and corrective surgeries for the rural poor — covering everything from transport to post-operative care. A single surgery can cost as little as $75. For just $25, you can carry a share of that — and together, donors like you mean no one has to stay in darkness.
