Because no one should suffer in silence or die unseen.

Leprosy still carries a brutal social cost in many parts of India. Those affected are cast out left to beg, suffer alone, or die forgotten. At Hand-in-Hand, we reject that cruelty. Our Dignity Homes are sanctuaries where healing happens slowly, steadily, with honor. We provide not just medical help, but deep emotional repair because every person deserves to live and die with dignity.

Safe Shelter, Every Night

We house leprosy patients in clean, stable environments where hygiene, safety, and peace are prioritized. For many, it’s their first experience of security in decades. No more sleeping on station platforms. No more fear of being pushed away.

Daily Meals with Dignity

Three fresh meals are served every day prepared with the same care as one would for a loved one. No queues. No shame. Just a quiet plate of nourishment served to people who’ve gone far too long without it.

Medical Attention That Stays Consistent

Wounds from leprosy require daily care, and our team is trained to offer it with both skill and patience. From antiseptic dressings to long-term medications, we make sure care is never delayed, never ignored.

A Life with Companionship

Residents aren’t treated like patients they’re treated like family. Volunteers read to them, pray with them, and listen to their stories. It’s the healing of the heart that matters most, and that’s what we offer every day.

Every resident is welcomed with respect and treated as part of a family. Rooms are regularly sanitized, and personal spaces are maintained with care. We provide clothing, bedding, and emotional support so each person can begin healing not just physically, but with dignity and hope.

Our kitchen staff adheres to strict hygiene standards and ensures a nutritionally balanced diet tailored to medical needs. Mealtimes become moments of community shared, peaceful, and humane. Each meal restores not only strength but the sense of belonging everyone deserves.

We coordinate with hospitals for advanced treatments when needed and monitor recovery closely. Beyond the medical, we focus on rebuilding confidence—showing every patient that healing is possible and that they are worthy of care, attention, and life without stigma.
